Château de la Roche-Martel

Located between the three regions: Poitou, Anjou and Touraine, the Château de la Roche Martel overlooks the plain of Loudun, on the edge of an old secondary Roman road, monitoring the entrance to the Loire Valley and the port of Montsoreau.

The current castle was built from the beginning of the XNUMXth century by the Martel family, whose name it bears.
At the end of the XNUMXth century, it was bought by a notary who transformed it into a pleasure residence. It removes a good part of the old constructions, transforms the initial military architecture into a resort.

From the initial period, in particular, the medieval gatehouse between two towers and the frame of the old drawbridge, as well as an original wooden gallery, remain.

Currently being restored, the Château de la Roche Martel now has modern comforts and houses guest rooms.
