Church of Notre Dame - Antigny
A stopover in the Valley of Frescoes , the Romanesque church of Notre Dame underwent many architectural changes over the years. During the 15th century, a seigniorial chapel dedicated to Saint Catherine was built onto the south side of the church and the frescoes were then added to the walls and vault. The later ones are reminiscent of those in the funeral chapel in Jouhet. The nave of the church also bears frescoes dating from medieval to the modern times. Restoration work has recently unveiled even more frescoes for you to enjoy...
Not to be missed: the Saint-Savin Abbey, which is listed with the Unesco World Heritage organization for its exceptional Romanesque frescoes.
