Church of Notre-Dame
A splendid example of Poitou Romanesque architecture, the site dates back to the beginning of the 12th century and belonged to the abbey at Fontevrault. The cloisters and monastic buildings built around the church were overseen by the prioress. The main gate of the hospice, bearing a lion, can still be visited. Within the church, a collection of paintings including a 16th century painting from the Flemish school.. The church square courtyard and gardens have been recently restored for the visitor to imagine what the peaceful monastic life was like.
