Guided tour of town, village

La Cité de l’Écrit et des Métiers du Livre

Cross the bridge, the upper town is yours, enter the medieval district of Le Brouard, baptized “City of Writing and Book Trades” fully restored thanks to the help of the department, the Region and Europe.

The history of Montmorillon has revolved around paper for a long time, with many (paper) mills located on the banks of the Gartempe in the 50th century, then the famous Rossignol cards, precious supports for teachers in the 60s and XNUMXs.
In 1990, the child of the Country, Régine Desforges (1935-2014) created the first book fair... Since 2000, the Cité de l'Ecrit has welcomed booksellers, booksellers and craftsmen ready to share their passion for the book and its trades.
