La Ligne Verte
La Ligne Verte is an old railway line converted into a cycle path and walking trails that runs from Châtellerault to Loudun, through the Lencloître area.
There are 37 km of trails, 17 of them passing through the Lencloître district, from Scorbé-Clairvaux to Savigny-sous-Faye.
Some information boards tell the story of the railway line from the time it was built to the present day, while others explain about the local area, including the Romanesque art in the Lencloître district and the market-gardening and wine industries.
There are also ‘Discovery Loop’ boards showing other footpaths to the villages lying along the route of the Line.
Along the way you’ll also find fun botanical information points to test your knowledge about the local fauna and flora. For your convenience, there are also picnic areas.
With all sorts of flowers and trees, animals from the hare to the green woodpecker, the railway stations, history and more, the Ligne Verte is undoubtedly a wonderfully entertaining and pleasant way to explore our region and its little-known and varied heritage. A great way for all the family to enjoy the countryside.
