Musée de la Ferme Acadienne

La Ferme Acadienne is located in the town of Archigny. Located about twenty kilometers northeast of Poitiers, on the right bank of the Vienne, the Acadian Line extends on the road from Monthoiron to La Puye.

In 1775, 58 farms were built by the Marquis Pérusse Des Cars out of the 150 planned. Leaders pushed the families to revolt - the promised property titles were still not delivered to the families - and the Acadians refused to continue the work.
The abandoned farms will be redistributed among the remaining families or given as a dowry in the event of marriage between the Acadians and the people of the region. The Acadian families then settled in Poitou, for the most part, established roots in the region. There are still 36 left today.
