Attached to the castle and dominating the pretty village of Morthemer, the Church of Notre-Dame, classified as a Historic Monument, is a complex building from the XNUMXth, XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries: a single nave with four bays in the Gothic style and asymmetrical transept (XNUMXth, XNUMXth centuries), a Romanesque choir in a semicircle surmounting a crypt with three naves (late XNUMXth century).
The crypt has Gothic wall paintings depicting Christ in Majesty and the Four Evangelists. The church retains a small baptismal font from the XNUMXth century and a recumbent statue from the XNUMXth century.
Two paintings, recently restored, were offered by Empress Eugénie de Montijo, one of which represents the "Miracle of the Partridges". Extensions to the castle at the end of the XNUMXth century led to the church being attached to it, condemning its Gothic portal and leading to its temporary fortification.
