Forêt Communale du Grand Parc

The Bois du Grand Parc in Lusignan, south of Poitiers, is a very attractive place for walking. Located near the city, at the foot of the viaduct, they extend over 160 hectares and overlook the meanders of the Vonne river. They are the reminiscence of the famous forest of Coulombiers which saw the loves of Mélusine and Raymondin. Former hunting grounds of the Lords of Lusignan, these woods were surrounded by walls in the Middle Ages of which there are still some vestiges.

It is said that Charles V would have come there several times to practice his favorite sport.

This forest massif is an exceptional natural site by the richness of its flora, its steep paths, its wildlife. It offers many opportunities for hiking (marked trails), a botanical trail. It is also crossed by the GR655 of the Chemins de Compostelle (Turonensis route).
