Ouzilly-Vignolles remains a unique example in the region for its ethnological heritage.
To build in these hostile places, the inhabitants had no resources other than earth and marsh reeds or reeds, aggregates and water. This is how, in Ouzilly-Vignolles, mud houses were erected, probably from the XNUMXth century, built using the so-called cob technique. These constructions have no foundation and show no trace of a formwork system for mounting the walls. The construction process is relatively simple, but knowledge of the dosages of the different elements can only be acquired with experience.
This know-how has practically disappeared today. The whole of the habitat of the commune was totally in raw earth, "bauge", until the beginning of the XNUMXth century.
