Dolmens de Villaigue

The Dolmens of Villaigue were listed as Historic Monuments in 1980. Although badly damaged, they remain visible in the middle of the fields.

It seems that one of them was a passage dolmen (or passage tomb) and quadrangular chamber of the Angoumois type. The Tumulus (or artificial eminence) disappeared many years ago, as did the archaeological furniture. Human remains, a few polished axes and a limestone pearl necklace testify to the funerary and symbolic use of this type of construction.
