One of the most powerful Benedictine abbeys in Carolingian Europe owes its origins to its relic of the Holy Cross. It was built and then remodeled from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century. Immensely rich, the abbey knew its hours of glory until the Hundred Years War, then was ruined by the Wars of Religion and finally destroyed during the Revolution.
