Ensemble Conventuel de Lencloître

Former priory church. The church is a fine example of the Poitevin Romanesque style. The convent complex dates from the beginning of the XNUMXth century and depended on the abbey of Fontevrault. Around the church were organized the cloisters and conventual buildings intended for the nuns whose prioress directed the community. The hotel gate, crowned with a lion, is still visible today.
The church has a collection of paintings, including a Flemish-inspired triptych from the XNUMXth century.
Recently restored, this place regains its serenity of yesteryear with its square courtyard and its promenade gardens.
To see: the XNUMXth century dovecote, which, erected between the two cloisters, separated that of the women and that of the men.
