Le Palais
Formerly Palace of the Counts of Poitou and Dukes of Aquitaine, residence of Eleanor of Aquitaine (1137-1204) Queen of France and England - mother of Richard the Lionheart and Jean sans Terre - the Palace is an essential monument of the town with its Restoration era façade, hiding the majestic King's room or the hall of lost steps with the beautiful fireplace at the back of the room.
This iconic Poitiers building offers a glimpse into the history of Poitiers from the Gallo-Roman era to the 21st century. It is currently undergoing renovations.
Opening
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday:
From 11am to 19pm: access to the Great Hall and the exhibition "The Palace, a construction site in History"
From 11am to 13pm and from 14pm to 18pm: reception, shop and reservations
Wednesday from 14pm to 18pm: visits of the Great Hall (last departure at 17pm) > 30 min visits, departures every hour on request.
Weekends, public holidays and school holidays:
