Forêt de Scévolles

Departing from the charming Guesnes pond and its leisure area, numerous possibilities for marked hikes in the heart of the 4ha forest massif.
Its name evokes the great French poet of the 16th century, Scévole de Sainte-Marthe, from an illustrious Loudun family. He was Ronsard's close friend, was received with Renaudot and many others in his literary salon in Loudun.
The forest massif extends over the Cenomanian sands, oaks and hazelnut trees rub shoulders with black locust trees and pines. Many animals find refuge there: deer, roe deer, wild boar, foxes, badgers, martens, etc.

Nearby: the Maison de l’Acadie at La Chaussée, the castle of Monts-sur-Guesnes.
