Le Carnaval des Chats – Boucle 11

Back

The Pagenauds cross, dated 1839 and located near the village of the same name, was also called “Chadrat cross”. The saying goes “On Mardi Gras all the cats go to the Chadrat cross”.
And in fact, legend has it that on Mardi Gras day cats gather, often at a crossroads or around a cross, to have their carnival. They first pilfer from houses, pans, flour, sugar and eggs to make their pancakes. The men were certainly not to follow until their gathering! We didn't really know what fate was in store for those who had ventured that far! In the Montmorillon region, other municipalities have a cat gathering cross, in Sillars or even in Nalliers.

This loop is part of a set of 12 loops called "Le Carnaval des Chats" and located in the Antigny, Haims and Jouhet sector.
