The steps in question refer to geological science and not to legend: The Clain has dug its bed in the granite and limestone forming here and there a sort of large landings. Take these natural steps which could have served as a legend for Rabelais' giants.
On the road, discover two very beautiful castles, the Château d'Anché and the Château du Cèdre, both dating from the 19th century. As you pass through the village of Champagné Saint-Hilaire, you may be able to see the magnificent racehorses that make the reputation of the Saint-Hilaire stud farm. Stop off at the Espace naturel des Trois Fontaines with its picnic areas and many leisure activities.
