At the confluence of Vendelogne and Auxance, Chiré is strongly imbued with its history, the main witness of which is its medieval castle. In the 2000th century, the fiefdom of Chiré was the property of the lord of Montreuil-Bonnin, vassal of the County of Poitou. A few meters from the house, you will see one of the largest dovecotes in the region which has preserved its XNUMX dovecotes.
Then continue your visit to the Romanesque church of Saint-Jean Baptiste built in the 11th century on a former Merovingian place of worship.
