Domaine de la Groie
The Domaine de la Groie, in Ingrandes-sur-Vienne, is an old medieval castle (of which 2 1th century towers and 3 XNUMXth century porch mainly remain) surrounded by a XNUMX-hectare wooded park (oaks and ash trees) currently being developed.
The first mentions of the stronghold of La Groie date from 1425, when the feudal castle (with moats and drawbridge) belonged to the "d'Allogny" one of the oldest families in Poitou very close to the sovereigns Louis XI, Charles VIII and Henry III.
In the 1935th century, the stronghold then became a marquisate whose coat of arms is sculpted in the magnificent pediment of the listed entrance porch, as well as the two towers since XNUMX. These remains are now the subject of long and major restoration work.
