Falunières de Moulin Pochas

Back

There was a very ancient time when the tides punctuated the days of Amber. 15 million years ago, this pretty village on the Mirebalaise plain was under sea water.

The currents there were violent and changeable, carrying tons of shellfish waste from this abundant life. The underwater landscape consisted of shifting sand dunes.

Meager dry lawns have reconquered the sands and the excavations and already the first orchids have taken their place in the pioneer flora which has settled. For those with a sweet tooth, wild thyme and oregano offer their fragrances on hot summer days.

In view of its highly heritage dimension on the geological level and the observation of an overall degradation of the place linked to the lack of maintenance, it was restored, then fitted out by the Regional Conservatory of Natural Spaces of Poitou-Charentes.
