Site/monument

Château de Labarom

The name of the castle comes, undoubtedly, from that of the fountain "Barum" which existed on these places in Roman times.

The whole, castle, dovecote, outbuildings and park are listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments (ISMH).

Located on the edge of the three provinces of Touraine, Anjou and Poitou, the site benefits from a very distant overview of the plain of Haut Poitou to the south.

The southern part of the castle was built at the end of the 15th century and the northern part at the beginning of the 18th century. The two frames are perfectly visible on the top floor.

A very large dovecote (2800 putlogs), with a ladder that can still turn, attests to the importance of the estate at the time of its construction.
