At the foot of the medieval city, in the city center, the Romanesque church of Notre-Dame de Chauvigny was founded by Isembert I, bishop of Poitiers, lord of Chauvigny at the beginning of the 11th century. Restored in the 19th century, it still retains its Romanesque choir and a fresco from the end of the 15th century.
