Calligraphy? It's the art of making writing a beautiful adventure. Because beautiful letters have to be earned, as Sylvie Édeline explains to you as you visit her ARTelier in Gartempe together. A treasure within reach of all little hands, which you'll discover today as a family, with (let's not kid ourselves) a little excitement! But before throwing down the ink, Sylvie asks you the famous question: quill or brush?

An exceptional setting
Rock, scissors, paper: it's decided, it'll be paintbrushes for the grown-ups and quills for the little ones. You're now equipped to begin your calligraphy workshop. Not to mention the large table in front of you, where inkwells and other unusual tools for writing, drawing, and tracing are plentiful. There's no doubt about it, you're in the heart of the Cité de l'Écrit et des Métiers du Livre in Montmorillon! So, what's it like to be an artist?
Hop, hop, hop, not so fast! Before you dive into writing, brush down, Sylvie presents all the tools at your disposal and explains how to use them properly. Children? More focused than ever, they listen, touch, question, and are passionate. It's not every day that a craftsman explains their craft to you! As for parents, they just want to try it too.
On your pages... Ready... Draw! The whole tribe starts with a few practice sheets, just to warm up their wrists and familiarize themselves with their favorite tool. Calligraphy isn't a race, Sylvie reminds us, seeing Dad play Schumacher with the brush on his notebook. In a few minutes, everyone is busy tracing beautiful letters in their notebooks, masterfully combining thick and thin strokes. Who would have thought that writing well could be so addictive? The training is over, it's time to move up to the big leagues.

Your final mission: decorate a small bookmark cut from parchment. What if we teamed up? Sylvie says, "Great idea." The little ones will take care of the calligraphy for the four marks, while the parents will go behind to illustrate them with graffiti or watercolor. A fun and friendly eight-handed operation that brings a smile to the face of the whole table. Once your work is finished, your guide congratulates you on the result and your flawless organization. Mission accomplished!
