There was a canvas…
Your story begins at the Chauvigny Tourist Office, where the whole family meets their guide for the day. Heroes big and small have only one desire: to discover the art of embroidery together. And what's more, in an incredible setting, the imposing Château d'Harcourt, in the heart of the medieval city. Game of Thrones had better watch out! After exploring the fortress, everyone finds themselves in a living room from the period, where the husky voices of lords, the whispers of damsels, and the laughter of children still echo. It's incredible to imagine everything that happened in this room!

You're now seated on the cushion seats, those stone benches built into the windows that once allowed embroidery in the daylight. Quite an art, as your guide explains. No machines or belts back then, embroidery was a manual art that required patience and meticulousness. Which didn't stop you from chatting and exchanging the latest court gossip at the same time! You'll also learn the different stitches used at the time. The trendiest? The chain stitch, the same one you'll be using. Because yes, now it's your turn!
Ready to get (un)stitched?
It's time for young and old to decide what they're going to embroider on their canvases. One thing's for sure: the medieval bestiary isn't short on choice when it comes to fun. Mom chooses the dragon, while the sailors opt for the mermaid. It's impossible not to laugh when Dad rushes to the donkey playing the guitar. Good news, you can embroider your design on the tote bag provided by the Tourist Office at the start of the activity! A great way to keep a nice souvenir of your family experience. The workshop is coming to an end, and already you just want to do it again.
