Let's take a detour to the La Sabline Museum in Lussac-les-Châteaux, 15 minutes from Montmorillon and its City of Writing where the time of half a day, parents and children get to know better the man in prehistory. Creations and exploration of places steeped in history are on the program thanks to this activity Expériences famille !

In the shoes of an archaeologist

Today is going to be a beautiful day!

Dad asked me to play archaeologist in a museum. I said yes because I think he really wanted to have fun too.

We arrive in a small town, Lussac-les-Châteaux. In the large building of the La Sabline Museum, we discover tools, stones and vestiges from another time. A person explains to us that men lived here 14 years ago… and that we can even see their caves!

We then settle down for workshops. I see dad very happy to get his hands dirty. The gentleman from the museum brings a whole bunch of old objects that you can observe very closely. There are engraved drawings. After explanations, it is our turn to do the same.

The engraving workshop of the La Sabline Museum

I take the tools and delicately try to draw something in the stone myself. It's challenging but fun! Dad laughs at him, I look at his work but I don't understand right away what it is… He saw my horse right away!

We get up after finishing our engravings. We will visit the Cave of the March, this is where archaeologists found the tools and engravings that can be seen in the museum. When you arrive, it's super pretty: a large pond with huge stone posts that were part of an old castle, ducks splashing about… and finally the caves!

It's impressive to see that men have lived here, surrounded by nature. I'm very happy with this morning with dad and I hope we can do other creative activities together during the holidays!
