©Pomme-verte-libellab Direction the mini-port of Cenon-sur-Vienne, placed on a bank of the Vienne, discover the landscape differently. A fleet of about fifteen electric boats, from 3 to 7 places, makes it possible to afford a soothing walk on the waves. No excess speed possible, we advance at about 7 kilometers per hour. Along the water and the history of Vienne
Sailing upstream of the La River Vienne, which extends from the north of the department to the south, passing the island of Availles-en-Châtellerault. Then we continue to the Chitré dam towards the pretty Watermill of Chitré. Its ideal location made it possible to deliver to Chatellerault and the Loire the millstones extracted from the ground of what has become today the Pinail Nature Reserve, to manufacture oil and flour, to trade in livestock.
©Pomme Verte – LibelLabWhile sailing downstream, our boat passes under the young Nelson Mandela Bridge, completed in 2010, under the railway viaduct then under the Maréchal-Lyautey bridge, built in 1964 and we approach the town of Chatellerault to the EDF dam. The chimneys of Manu, the former arms factory, are within easy reach.
A guaranteed change of scenery near Châtellerault
Whatever the duration of your chosen walk (30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours) the peaceful and green atmosphere of the banks, the smell of the river, the fauna, the flora and the freshnessr water offer an unexpected change of scenery along the water. Electric boats are accessible to people with reduced mobility at mini-port of Cenon-sur-Vienne, every afternoon in July and August. Reservation is recommended.
