Église Notre-Dame de Genouillé

XNUMXth century church decorated with dragons, griffins and lions on porch. In a sober style, typical of the small rural churches of Poitou, the Notre-Dame church underwent profound modifications in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. In the shape of a Latin cross, it has an octagonal bell tower and Romanesque and Gothic transition vaults. The facade is the only part of the church that has retained its original decor. The door is remarkable for its interlacing representing animals and characters. Madonna and Child, in painted wood, from the XNUMXth century.

Nearby: Charroux abbey, Cibioux castle in Surin, the banks of the Charente.
